The 17-year-old New Zealand shotput sensation Jacko Gill has defended his world junior athletics title in Barcelona after a championship record throw of 22.2 metres.

Gill broke the record with his second attempt out of six for his third World Championship title in three years, and says he now has the junior world record in his sights.

His winning throw was 53 centimetres short of the world record mark but with one more year in the junior ranks Gill says he'll be going all out to claim the record as his own.
