Proteas replace wicketkeeper

The South African wicketkeeper Thami Tsolekile has joined the Proteas in England as the replacement for Mark Boucher.

The 35-year-old veteran Boucher on Wednesday announced his early retirement from international cricket after undergoing three hours of surgery to repair a serious eye injury, caused by a flying bail in the Proteas opening tour match against Somerset.

Tsolekile has three test caps, all of them from 2004, and only last week he took a South African record eight catches in an innings, but he's unlikely to play in the first test at the Oval.

Coach Gary Kirsten has said AB de Villiers will initially take over the gloves.
