King-Turner advances to semi-finals in Canada

The New Zealand Davis Cup tennis player, Dan King-Turner has made the semi-finals of the Futures tournament in Canada as he builds up for the Challenger event in New York next week.

King-Turner defeated American fourth seed Greg Ouellette 2-6 6-1 6-4 to reach the semi-finals and will now take on American Nikita Kryvonos for a place in the final.

Meanwhile fellow New Zealand Davis Cup team members, Rubin Statham and Michael Venus have been beaten in the quarter-finals of their respective Futures events.

Statham, the current New Zealand No1 lost to Frenchman Nicolas Renavand 7-6(5) 6-4 in the quarters at the Futures event at Bourg-En-Bresse in France.

While at the Rochester Futures event in New York the third seeded Venus, in his second tournament back after a long injury layoff, lost in the quarter-finals to American fifth seed Sekou Bangoura 4-6 6-3 7-5.
