FIFA boss announces new ethics code

6:27 am on 18 July 2012

FIFA's president Sepp Blatter has announced that world football's governing body has adopted a new code of ethics in the wake of a series of damaging corruption scandals.

The announcement comes after a rocky few days for Blatter, who has had to defend his stance on bribery after a Swiss court revealed that his Brazilian predecessor Joao Havelange had accepted enormous kick-backs during his 24-year presidency.

Blatter has been defiant in responding to calls that he should consider his position.

In the meantime, FIFA has named leading American and German crime fighters to tackle corruption within the sport's world governing body.
