Hammett wants to stay with Hurricanes

The Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett says he wants to stay on in the job and there seems little doubt that he will get to continue with the Super Rugby side.

Last year he was public enemy number one for many people in the region when he got rid of Ma'a Nonu and Andrew Hore, while Piri Weepu and Hosea Gear also decided to leave.

However the Hurricanes have won back the public this year with an exciting style of play that resulted in 10 wins and just missing out on the Super Rugby play-offs.

Hammett says the process has started and both sides are keen for him to continue.

The Hurricanes hope to have 20 players contracted for next year this week.
