Ryder offered contract by Wellington Cricket

The troubled international batsman Jesse Ryder has been offered a playing contract by the Wellington cricket association after opting out of the top 20 New Zealand Cricket contract system.

The six major associations have announced a list of 74 players who've been offered first round domestic contracts, for the upcoming season.

Each Major Association can offer between nine and 13 contracts, with all but Northern Districts, who named nine players, having contracted 13 players.

The second round of contracts will be announed next month, with each association being able to contract a maximum of 14 players.
