Tottenham-Liverpool pre-season friendly ends in acrimony

Updated at 5:52 am on 31 July 2012

Tottenham's pre-season friendly in the United States against fellow English premier league football club Liverpool has ended in acrimony.

Tottenham's Gareth Bale has criticised Liverpool's Charlie Adam for a late tackle, saying it was pre-mediated and that he was deliberately targeted during the goalless draw.

There's a history of ill feeling between the pair after Adam, who was playing for Blackpool at the time, escaped a a charge after rupturing Bale's ankle ligaments and ending the Tottenham winger's season early, during a match at White Hart Lane in May last year.
