The Wellington Phoenix will play five games in two weeks when they visit Australia and India this month as part of their pre-season buildup to the A-League football competition.
The Phoenix play the Newcastle Jets in Weston on Saturday week then head to India to compete in a four team tournament near Assam in north east India, between Bhutan and Bangladesh.
Coach Ricki Herbert says the side has struggled for meaningful pre-season matches in the past but the upcoming games will give the side a real workout.
The Phoenix will complete their pre-season programme against A-League newcomers Western Sydney Wanderers in Christchurch on September 23rd with their first competition match against Sydney FC in Wellington on October 6th.
