Penrith hopes of avoiding NRL wooden spoon suffer setback

5:35 am on 14 August 2012

Penrith's hopes of avoiding the wooden spoon have suffered a setback with the National Rugby League match review committee charging centre Michael Jennings with two offences.

Jennings will be banned for one game if he accepts early guilty pleas for a dangerous contach charge and a high tackle charge, stemming from the Panthers loss to Canberra yesterday.

Penrith are equal on points with bottom-placed Parramatta but have a slightly better points differential with three games to play and play the Warriors on Sunday.
