Milne surprise inlcusion in Twenty20 World Cup squad

11:55 am on 15 August 2012

All rounder Andrew Ellis and batsmen Tom Latham and Dean Brownlie have all missed out on the New Zealand side for the Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka next month.

The Canterbury trio were part of the Black Caps limited overs squad on the recent Carribean tour.

The Central Districts pace bowler Adam Milne is the surprise inclusion having played only two Twenty20 internationals the last against Pakistan in 2010.

The national Selection Manager, Kim Littlejohn says Milne's impressed during his time with the winter development squad and his extra pace will offer something different.

The Wellington allrounder James Franklin's international revival continues under new coach Mike Hesson.

Having missed out on the West Indies tour under John Wright, Hesson included Franklin in the recently named test squad for India and has now named him in the World Cup Twenty20 lineup.

Former captain Dan Vettori also returns to the limited overs format.

The squad will also play two Twenty20 games in India ahead of the world cup in Sri Lanka the first of which is in Vishakhapatnam on September 8th.

The Black Caps are in pool D alongside Pakistan and Bangladesh at the World Cup with their first pool match against Pakistan on September.

The full squad is:

Ross Taylor, captain, Doug Bracewell, James Franklin, Martin Guptill, Roneel Hira, Rob Nicol, Brendon McCullum, Nathan McCullum, Kyle Mills, Adam Milne,

Jacob Oram, Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson.
