Former Australia rugby international takes legal action against English club

The former Wallaby Cameron Shepherd has begun legal action against English rugby club Northampton over a contract dispute.

Shepherd, who subsequently signed with another English club, Sale Sharks, signed a contract with the club in May but Northampton later terminated the contract on grounds that Shepherd had failed a medical due to the condition of his left ankle.

Shepherd's agent Nick Fordham says he was appalled at the way Northampton treated the player saying medical reports from leading independent orthopaedic surgeons concluded that there is nothing wrong with Cameron's ankle.
