The New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell has been chosen to help promote his sport's return to the Olympic roster in 2016.

Campbell, who'll be 47 by the time of the Rio Olympics, was an honoured guest at the Inetrnational Golf Federation golf day at Sunningdale in England, to mark the start of the new four year cycle which will lead to golf's return to the Olympic roster.

The 2005 US Open champion and 8-time European Tour winner says he has already sensed in locker rooms throughout the golf world that many players are going to be desperate to win the first Olympic gold medal in golf for 112 years.
