The Northern Mystics netballer Bailey Mes only began playing in the midcourt this year but after a stand out performance at last week trials now finds herself in the Silver Ferns side to play Australia.

The 23 year old is the only new cap in the Silver Ferns squad named today by coach Wai Taumaunu for next month's three test Constellation Cup series.

Pulse midcourter Camilla Lees and Southern Steel shooter Jodi Brown also return to the side.

Mes got little court time in the trans-Tasman competition with the Mystics having Temeprara George and England international Jade Clarke in their starting lineup.

However Taumaunu was impressed by Mes' performance at last week's trials in Auckland saying her combination with Irene van Dyk was very pleasing.

Taumaunu says Mes' fitness level was also impressive.

Mes believes her combination with van Dyk was helped by having played for so long in the goal shooting circle.
