Roddick beats Tomic

Andy Roddick's tennis career will continue for at least another match after the veteran beat Australian Bernard Tomic in straight sets at the US Open in New York.

Roddick, who turned 30 on Friday and announced his retirement at the conclusion of the tournament, thrashed Tomic 6-3 6-4 6-0 at Flushing Meadows.

Roddick is the last American male to win a grand slam tennis tournament. He was the US Open champion in 2003 - his sole major title.
