West Ham thump Fulham as Reid scores

8:46 am on 2 September 2012

The All Whites defender Winston Reid scored as his English Premier League side West Ham United beat London rivals Fulham 3-0.

Reid headed home a corner in the 29th minute to go with Kevin Nolan's first-minute strike, while Matt Taylor finished the scoring with a third goal in the first half.

England striker Andy Carroll played his part on his debut for the Hammers, Carroll flicking a long ball on to Ricardo Vaz Te who in turn found Nolan for the opener after just 53 seconds at Upton Park.

But Carroll, who joined West Ham after an ineffective spell with Liverpool, was forced to withdraw from England's squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine after injuring his hamstring in the second half.

Elsewhere West Bromwich Albion beat Everton 2-0 in the Midlands, Swansea City drew 2-2 with visitors Sunderland, Wigan Athletic also drew 2-2 at home to Stoke City, and Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 with Norwich City in London.
