Athens Olympic silver medallist Bevan Docherty and Clark Ellice were the best of the New Zealanders at the Hy-Vee Triathlon 5150 Elite Cup in the United States, finishing fourth and eighth respectively.
The race was won by London Olympic silver medallist Javier Gomez of Spain with American Hunter Kemper second and Australian Greg Bennett third.
Meanwhile New Zealand's Melanie Burke finished 7th in the defence of her ITU Powerman World Long Distance Duathlon title in Switzerland.
Sweden's Eva Nystrom won the event with Great Britain's Lucy Gossage second and the Netherlands May Kerstens third.
