The world men's tennis number one Roger Federer has made the US Open quarter-finals without hitting a ball after his American opponent Mardy Fish withdrew due to health reasons.
Five-time champion Federer will face Czech sixth seed Tomas Berdych for a place in the semi-finals after he beat Spanish 11th seed Nicolas Almagro in straight sets.
It will be the top seed's 38th grand slam quarter-final.
Fish missed two months of the season earlier this year because of a heart problem.
