The defending champion Novak Djokovic has made the singles final at the US Open tennis tournament for the third straight year, after beating the Spaniard David Ferrer in four sets in their rain-delayed semi-final.
The second-seeded Serb came back from a set down in the rain-delayed match, which spanned Sunday and Monday NZT, to beat Auckland champion Ferrer 2-6 6-1 6-4 6-2.
Djokovic has now won 27 straight matches in hardcourt Grand Slams, and he'll be aiming for his sixth major title in Tuesday's final against the third-seeded Scot Andy Murray.
The men's final will be played a day late for a fifth straight year after the rain and wind that has plagued the latter stages of the New York tournament.
Murray also had an early delay before he completed his four-set win over the Czech Tomas Berdych on Sunday.
Murray dropped the first set and needed a tiebreak in the last after rain held the start back for 90 minutes, but he won 5-7 6-2 6-1 7-6.
