Ruptured ligament rules Will Genia out for six months

Australia's captain's curse has struck once again, with stand-in skipper Will Genia expected to be sidelined for six months after scans confirmed the star halfback had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament.

Genia's injury follows that of regular captain James Horwill and the man who replaced him, David Pocock, who were both already ruled out for the remainder of the Rugby Championship.

Genia will be replaced for the Wallabies clash with Argentina on the Gold Coast next week by veteran New South Wales half back Brett Sheehan.

In a further blow lock forward Sitaleki Timani is also considered doubtful for the Argentina fixture after suffering a grade one hamstring injury in Saturday night's 26-19 victory over South Africa in Perth.
