The American tennis great Serena Williams has won the US Open women's final, beating the top seed Victoria Azarenka from Belarus in three sets.
The fourth seeded Williams won the first set 6-2 then Azarenka claimed the second by the same score and was up a break and serving for the match at 5-4 when Williams broke back. She held serve then broke again to maintain her hold over Azarenka which now stands at 10 wins to one loss.
It's Williams' fourth major title in New York and her 15th grand slam overall. She's now won 43 of 45 matches since April, picking up six titles along the way.
