Blues coach turns eye to Franks

The Blues Super Rugby coach Sir John Kirwan wants to lure the Crusaders and All Blacks prop Ben Franks to the Auckland based franchise to plug the gap left by the departure of Tony Woodcock.

Franks, who can play both sides of the scrum, reportedly wants out of his Crusaders contract, so that he can concentrate on being a tighthead specialist.

He had been linked with the Highlanders but with Tony Woodcock signing with the southern franchise it appears the race for Franks signature is back on and the Kirwan would like to see him in a Blues jersey in 2013.

Ben Franks has struggled to get regular starts with the Crusaders, who also fellow All Blacks props Owen Franks and Wyatt Crockett on their books.
