The Wellington Phoenix has signed their second youngster in a week from the A-League club's fledgling Football School of Excellence, with versatile 19-year-old Louis Fenton joining on a three-year professional contract.

Fenton can play midfield, wing or striker and joins the 17-year-old striker Tyler Boyd on the full-time staff as two of the Phoenix's three required under-21 players. The 20-year-old former Blackburn defender Cameron Lindsay is the other, he's now in his second season with the Phoenix.

Fenton scored one of the Phoenix's five goals in last night's practice game against a Wellington selection. New striker Stein Huysagems played his first minutes for the side as the Belgian international searches for match fitness, following his lengthy layoff due to contractual issues with his last European club.

The team travels to Christchurch this weekend for another pre-season game against new A-League side Western Sydney on Sunday.
