South Africans hit by stomach illness in Sri Lanka

11:24 am on 20 September 2012

After a stomach illness laid low several New Zealand cricketers at the Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, five South African players have been ill, but they are expected to be fit for their first group game tonight against Zimbabwe.

The Proteas' manager wouldn't identify the affected players but he was hopeful all 15 squad members would be available for selection for the opening game.

Apart from illness in the camp, the all rounder Albie Morkel has been in doubt because of a back problem, and he'll have to undergo a fitness test before the match.
