The New Zealand Breakers have opened the ANBL pre-season tournament in Victoria with a 71-66 win over the Townsville Crocodiles.
The 2-time reigning champions made a fast start, going up 11-nil from the tip-off, but the Crocs closed within 1 in the third quarter.
In a low-scoring affair, CJ Buron, Corey Webster and Mika Vukona all had 13 points for the Breakers.
Vukona also had 12 boards, and Alex Pledger added nine rebounds, while Cedric Jackson had seven assists.
In other results Perth beat Sydney, Wollongong beat Adelaide and Melbourne beat Cairns.
The Breakers play Cairns tonight.
