Boks drop Steyn for Australian test

7:14 am on 27 September 2012

The under-fire Springboks first five Morne Steyn has been dropped and replaced by Johan Goosen for Sunday morning's Rugby Championship test against Australia in Pretoria.

Steyn's form deserted him as the Springboks drew in Argentina, then lost to Australia in Perth and the All Blacks in Dunedin.

Coach Heineke Meyer has decided the 20-year-old Cheetahs first five Johan Goosen is ready to make his first test start, after only half an hour's play off the bench in his two appearances.

Second five Francois Steyn is in some doubt for the match with an ankle injury.
