The under-17 New Zealand women's footballers have been all but eliminated from the FIFA under 17 World Cup in Azerbaijan, after losing their second group match 3-0 to Japan.
The Young Football Ferns had to at least score and probably win to realistically keep their hopes alive.
Mathematically they can still qualify, but will need Japan to continue their winning ways over Mexico, and secure their own victory over Brazil by two clear goals in the final Group C match overnight Sunday.
