Sri Lanka use rules to their advantage at World Cup

The International Cricket Council is likely to look into Sri Lanka's captains switch in Tuesday's Super Eight match against England at the Twenty/20 World Cup.

Regular captain Mahela Jayawardene handed over to former skipper Kumar Sangakkara, to avoid the threat of a ban because of a slow over rate.

So Sangakkara was named as captain although Jayawardene still took decisions on the field.

Jayawardene says they were very careful to consult the rulebook before going ahead.

Hosts Sri Lanka will face Pakistan in the first World Twenty/20 semi-final tonight in Colombo after Pakistan beat Australia in their final Super Eight match.

India failed to advance despite beating South Africa by one run and only losing once at the tournament.

Australia scraped into the final four and will play the West Indies in the second semi-final on Friday night.
