The Southland captain Jamie Mackintosh has taken the unusual step of writing a public letter of apology for the Stags' dismal 84-0 rout at Canterbury on Sunday.
In the letter to The Southland Times, Mackintosh says to succumb to such a heavy loss is really disappointing, and they let ourselves, their coach and just as importantly the province down.
The one-test All Black prop known as Whoppa says the Southlanders want to make amends against Premiership side Taranaki at home on Sunday.
