Phoenix to stretch their squad this weekend

11:49 am on 9 October 2012

The Wellington Phoenix may have looked convincing in their first A-League match of the season, but the depth of the squad will be well tested for their next match.

The Phoenix will be without seven of their regular players because of international duty.

Six of them, including forward Jeremy Brockie and both goalkeepers, are involved in the All Whites matches against Tahiti, while striker Benjamin Totori will join his Solomon Islands squad.

The Phoenix are likely to include a number of their academy players for their trip to Melbourne this weekend to play the Heart.

They applied unsuccessfully to get the match postponed.
