Silver Ferns beat England

9:46 am on 18 October 2012

The Silver Ferns have beaten England 61-43 in a scratchy performance for their second win of the Netball Quad series in Newcastle.

The Silver Ferns opted for the same starting seven from their opening win against South Africa in Adelaide on Sunday and started well scoring the first four goals.

They were up by nine goals at half-time with goal attack Maria Tutaia netting a perfect 16 from 16 in the first half.

England fought back after the main break to win the third quarter by one as shooter Jo Harten found her range in the goal circle.

Substitute Irene van Dyk, along with Tutaia, who finished with just one miss from 32 attempts, put the result beyond doubt in the fourth quarter with a faultless 14 from 14 to guide the Silver Ferns home by 18 goals.

New Zealand's next match is against Australia in Sydney on Sunday.

In Wednesday night's other match, Australia thrashed South Africa 63-31.
