Bad draw for Caulfield Cup favourite

The favourite for Saturday's Caulfield Cup in Melbourne has drifted in the market after faring poorly at the barrier draw.

The front-running Glencadam Gold has drifted to $4.50 from $3.50 in some markets after drawing barrier 21 for the $3 million feature.

The Metropolitan Handicap winner, who will be out to give Gai Waterhouse her second Cup in three years, will come into gate 17 if all four emergencies fail to gain a run.

Last year's Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden fared little better, having the dubious honour of starting from the outside gate.

December Draw drew the best of the leading chances in the betting with barrier 12, while the lone four-year-old Zabeelionaire will start from the inside gate.

Glencadam Gold's owner Barry Pang says it is not an ideal barrier, but his horse can still win.
