The Canterbury coaches aren't even starting Jordan Taufua against Taranaki in Saturday's ITM Cup Premiership semi-final in Christchurch.
After recalling Taufua this week from a loan deal with Tasman and depriving the Makos of one of their best loose forwards, coach Tabai Matson's gone with Jed Brown at openside flanker and Luke Whitelock at No.8, in place of injured loosies Nasi Manu and Matt Todd.
Taufua's on the bench, infuriating Makos supporters who've now also lost versatile Tom Marshall, who joins Robbie Malneek and prop Campbell Johnstone on the injury list.
Canterbury has made three changes with the All Black prop Wyatt Crockett also starting.
