Glory go top after 2-0 win over Heart

6:33 am on 22 October 2012

The Perth Glory football team is on top of the A-League after a 2-0 home win over Melbourne Heart on Sunday night.

A goal in either half at nib Stadium was enough for Perth, with both goals coming from corners, Dean Heffernan grabbing the first and Billy Mehmet the second to secure the relatively comfortable victory without All Whites star Shane Smeltz.

Adelaide United and the Newcastle Jets are level with the Glory on six points but behind on goal difference.

The Wellington Phoenix are just a point behind.

Only new side the Western Sydney Wanderers are without a win after three rounds.
