The race director of the Tour de France Christian Prudhomme says Lance Armstrong should have to repay his winnings after being stripped of his seven titles by the International Cycling Union.

It's been estimated Armstrong won about 4.7 million dollars, some of which was shared with hits US Postal teammates for winning the race in seven successive years from 1999 to 2005, and Prudhomme says the rules are clear - when a rider is disqualified he must repay the prize money.

Armstrong has also been asked to return more than 9-million dollars to a Texas insurance company.

He's deleted all reference to his Tour de France wins on his Twitter biography.
