New Zealand's world junior mountain-biking champion Anton Cooper will compete for a new team next year.

The Christchurch teenager rode for the Trek World Racing team this year, which has announced it will concentrate on downhill competition only next year.

Cooper says his management company is well advanced with plans for a new team for 2013 and expects to be able to announce details in a month.

The 18-year-old won New Zealand's first-ever cross country world title, the Junior World Championship in Austria in September.
