The Tour of Southland continues today and the peloton faces it's first double-stage day.

The Auckland rider Mike Northey - following a commanding climb up Bluff Hill yesterday - won the second stage and claimed the yellow jersey with an eight second lead ahead of Carter Jones.

Stages three and four will both be completed today, the first of them beginning at Riverton Primary School and runs for 48 kilometres before finishing in Tuatapere.

The fourth stage is a 100 kilometre trek from Tuatapere to Te Anau.

Northey will start in the yellow jersey, while his Node 4-Subaru team is on top of the team classification ahead of Bissell Pro Cycling by 17 seconds.
