The former Black Cap Jesse Ryder has hit centuries in both innings of Wellington's first Plunket shield match of the season against Central Districts in Napier.

Ryder hit an unbeaten 117 off 113 deliveries in the first innings and 174 off 136 balls in the second.

Wellington won the match by five wickets.

Elsewhere in the Plunkett Shield, Otago have beaten Canterbury by 8 wickets at Rangiora, with the Black Cap Neil Wagner taking seven wickets for the match.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand cricket coach Mike Hesson says while he's had a couple of brief conversations with Ryder since taking on the role, he's got no plans to bring the big left hander back into the side in the near future.
