A 14 year old is poised to become the youngest golfer to play at the US Masters.

Guan Tianlang has qualified for the first major championship of next season by winning the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship yesterday in Thailand with a 15-under par total.

Guan won the title by one stroke, and the third placegetter Australian Oliver Goss says the 14 year old Chinese was "too young to be intimidated".

Until now the youngest player invited to the Masters was Italy's Matteo Manassero who was 16 when he played Augusta National in 2010.
