The former Phoenix player Marco Rojas celebrated his 21st birthday with two goals as his Melbourne Victory side moved off the bottom of the A-League football table with a 3-2 win over the Wellington Phoenix in Melbourne.

Rojas had two easy tap-ins for goals as the Victory ended a three-match losing streak.

The Victory regularly found holes in the Phoenix defence and looked assured of the points until Jeremy Brockie fired in two late goals to give the fans at Docklands a bit of a scare.

The Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert says the score flattered his side, Melbourne were very good and they were very disappointing.

The Victory are up to sixth on the table with six points, the Phoenix are eighth with five points.
