Roar sorry as they hit A-League bottom

The Brisbane Roar captain Matt Smith has apologised to fans and coach Rado Vidosic on behalf of his teammates for bringing the reigning A-League football champions to what he says is their lowest point in his time.

The Roar slumped to the bottom of the table after copping a 4-1 thrashing from Melbourne Heart at AAMI Park on Friday night, their third straight defeat.

The loss caused Vidosic, who took over from dual-championship coach Ange Postecoglou ahead of this season, to question his players' desire to perform.

But he says he has no cause to question whether his taking over, after Postecoglou left the club to join Melbourne Victory, had led to the slump.

Smith was adamant the players still had hunger to succeed, but struggled to explain why it was not on show.
