The Wellington Phoenix suffered their third straight loss in the A-League, going down 1-0 to the Central Coast Mariners in the capital.

The Mariners grabbed the only goal of the match midway through the second half through Daniel McBreen to record their fourth straight win in Wellington.

The result takes them to the top of the A-League standings, while the Phoenix remain second from bottom.

In the final game of the round, the Perth Glory managed to hold on for a point against the second-placed Adelaide United.

Meanwhile Ian Crook resigned as coach of Sydney FC yesterday - citing that the pressure of the job started to affect his health.
