Brockie scores twice in Phoenix win

11:30 am on 19 November 2012

The former Jets striker Jeremy Brockie scored twice as the Wellington Phoenix moved off the bottom of the A-League football ladder with a 3-0 win at Newcastle.

After three straight losses the Phoenix bounced back with an impressive defensive effort.

Brockie, who joined the Phoenix from the Jets during pre-season, scored in the 44th and 80th minutes to set his team on the road to victory with Paul Ifill adding the third from the penalty spot in the 87th minute after Benji Totori was hauled down in the box.

Brockie says there have been a lot of new attacking players brought to the club this season and it obviously takes a little time to gell.

He says the team is starting to get it together now and they're looking forward to going over to Perth and carrying on where they left off.

The Phoenix are now seventh with eight points. Adelaide lead with 16 points.

The team has travelled to Perth for Saturday night's game against the Glory.
