6:40 am on 20 November 2012

After a life full of achievements and honours, the legendary Australian sprinter Betty Cuthbert will be among the 24 original inductees this week into International Athletics Hall of Fame.

74 year old Cuthbert, a four-time Olympic champion, has severe multiple sclerosis and she's been in a nursing home for the last three years, but she will be making the trip to Barcelona for an occasion she rates as the climax of her career.

Other inductees include Emil Zatopek, Sergey Bubka, Carl Lewis, Fanny Blankers-Koen, Paavo Nurmi and Sebastian Coe.
