Thomson ban doubled by IRB

Updated at 9:30 am on 24 November 2012

The All Black loose forward Adam Thomson has had his one-week ban for trampling against a Scottish forward doubled, after the International Rugby Board's appeal was heard at Twickenham.

The IRB had appealed on the grounds that the initial decision was unduly lenient and inconsistent with the entry point of a two-week ban.

Thomson will be free to play from the 26th of November, meaning he will be eligible for the All Blacks' final test against England - ironically at Twickenham.

He basically served his ban by sitting out the win over Italy in Rome.
