Football referee cleared of racist remark

The union representing English Premier League referees is demanding Chelsea apologise to Mark Clattenburg and compensate him after he was cleared of making a racist remark.

Chelsea claimed Clattenburg, used inappropriate language towards midfielder John Obi Mikel while officiating a match, but the Football Association has cleared the referee of any wrong doing.

Meanwhile 10 supporters of English club Tottenham Hotspur have been injured one of them seriously during an attack in Rome before their side's Europa League match against Lazio.

The supporters were attacked outside a bar by dozens of masked men.

The match ended in a draw meaning Spurs must win their final qualify for the next stage.

Newcastle United's advanced to the last 32 , after drawing one all with Portuguese side Maritimo.

Liverpool twice led but were held to a 2-2 with Swiss club Young Boys.
