Michael Clarke's record breaking form has resulted in him becoming the number one ranked batsman in test cricket.

Clarke's double centuries in the drawn tests in Brisbane and Adelaide against South Africa have been rewarded with a return to the top of the ICC rankings.

It is the third time Clarke has officially been recognised as the best batsman in the world.

Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakarra is second and the West Indies Shivnarine Chanderpaul third.

Kevin Pietersen is back in the top 10 after his century in England's second test win over India... he's now 7th.
