Auckland City FC head coach Ramon Tribulietx has been named the Sport Auckland Coach of the Year at the Sporting Excellence Awards.
The Spaniard beat fellow finalists Venita Hokai, coach of the Junior White Sox women's softball team, and the Auckland Aces cricket coach Paul Strang.
Tribulietx's club City was however pipped by Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie for Team of the Year, the pair also winning Overall Sporting Excellence following their Olympic gold medallist performances at London 2012.
And Central United - Auckland City's Chatham Cup-winning feeder club - was bettered by the Mt. Albert Ramblers Softball outfit for the Club of the Year accolade.
