Wallabies lock gets reduced ban

The eight-week ban on the Wallabies lock Rob Simmons for a tip tackle on the French flanker Yannick Nyanga in the opening match of their northern tour has been reduced to five weeks, but he'll still miss this weekend's test against Wales in Cardiff.

After applying aggravating and mitigating factors the appeal committee found that the player's offending had merited a mid range entry point, rather than the top end entry point the Judicial Officer had originally found.

Simmons will still miss out on the Wallabies' last match in Europe against Wales after sitting out the games against Italy and England.
