Black Sticks win third test

The New Zealand women's hockey team has beaten India 3-1 in the third test in Palmerston North.

Just like the second test the Black Sticks had to come from behind after conceding an early goal, while they sealed their third straight win with a late goal to local Manawatu player Michaela Curtis who was playing just her second match for the national side.

Head coach Mark Hager said it was another scratchy start from the new-look team who were captained by Wellington's Anita Punt.

Hager says they simply weren't winning the one-on-one battles in the first half and India looked like they brought a lot more energy to the match than us.

The 4th of six tests is in Palmerston North this evening with the final two matches in Wellington this weekend.
