NZ Cricket launches investigation over lying allegations

New Zealand Cricket says it is investigating allegations by former Black Caps captain Ross Taylor he was lied to during the saga which ultimately led to be him being sacked from the role.

Brendon McCullum has taken over the role and will lead the side on its upcoming tour of South Africa.

The manner of his sacking has today led to New Zealand Cricket chairman Chris Moller officially apologising to Taylor.

There's disagreement over what coach Mike Hesson told Taylor when he informed him he wanted him to stand down during the recent tour of Sri Lanka, whether it was for all forms of the game or solely the short format games.

Moller says more information has come to light over how the process unfolded but he wouldn't elaborate.
